We are Harper College, the college in your community. The College was established by referendum in 1965 and opened September 1967. It is named for Dr. William Rainey Harper, a pioneer in the junior college movement in the United States and the first president of the University of Chicago.

Harper College typically offers compensation up to the median market rate for this position. We aim to ensure our pay is competitive while aligning with both the role's requirements and the candidate's experience.
Hiring is based on the terms of the collective bargaining agreement and the Adjunct Faculty Pay Scale.
Schedule information:
Days/evenings/weekends depending upon course schedule.
Speech 101 is a basic oral communication course taught face‑to‑face, covering a multitude of speech topics. The instructor is responsible for facilitating the class, grading student speeches, teaching basic communication processes, and working with the faculty to develop the class and assess student work. The instructor is also responsible for maintaining their own electronic website associated with the course (through the College’s system of choice, Blackboard).
This person should be on time, flexible, and supportive to students.
Master's Degree in Speech Communication or related area required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSPreferred:
Teaching at college level, two years experience helpful.

We offer a competitive, semester by semester adjunct pay, with some tuition waivers available after 3 semesters; sick and personal business leave; and a comprehensive Adjunct Faculty Development Program.
ABOUT THE TEAMThe Liberal Arts division provides transfer ready courses to students in the areas of English, humanities, language, linguistics, communication and philosophy.
