Position Summary, Requirements, and QualificationsOverview
- The Department of Psychology at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Northern Illinois University (NIU), invites applications for instructor positions in order to create a pool for advance and short-notice hiring. These will be part- or full-time temporary instructor positions. Start dates vary based on programmatic needs. We are seeking potential candidates to provide high-quality teaching in the areas of Psychology who fully embrace NIU's mission of providing opportunity to a diverse student body by providing them with access to high quality education.
With approximately 16,000 students, NIU is one of the largest public universities in the state of Illinois. Position Summary
- The Psychology Instructor will be responsible for teaching various topics in Psychology at both the undergraduate level and graduate levels and holding office hours. Applicants may be required to provide "in person" instruction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaching load will be no more than 4 standard courses (11-13 credit hours) during fall semester, no more than 4 standard courses (11-13 credit hours) during Spring semesters, and other duties as assigned within the boundaries of applicable bargaining unit agreements.
Minimum
Required Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Psychology
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in teaching undergraduate courses in psychology Availability to teach online and in-person courses

Anticipated Appointment Start Date - 8/16/2026
Anticipated Appointment End Date - 05/15/2027

Standard Hours Per Week - 37.50
