Special Education/Resource Teacher

This position is for the  school year.

The Special Education/Resource Teacher will support the mission of the school by providing individualized and/or small group academic and behavioral instruction to students with diverse learning needs. This role requires the individual to partner closely with the Student Services Team and classroom and content-area teachers. This role ensures that students with learning plans receive appropriate accommodations, modifications, and interventions while fostering a faith-centered environment rooted in Catholic values.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Student Support & Instruction Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students with identified learning needs.
• Develop, implement, and monitor accommodations and modifications based on student learning plans, service plans, or educational evaluations.
• Help to design intervention plans that address academic skill development in reading, writing, mathematics, executive functioning, and study skills.
• Monitor student progress using formal and informal assessments and maintain accurate documentation.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction and inclusive practices.
• Partner with classroom teachers to develop strategies that promote student success within the general education classroom.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, interventions, and recommendations.
• Participate in student support meetings, parent conferences, and multidisciplinary team meetings as appropriate.
• Coordinate services with outside professionals, therapists, and public school personnel when applicable.
• Maintain confidential student records in accordance with school policies.
• Assist in the identification and referral process for students demonstrating academic or developmental concerns.
• Recommend instructional materials, assistive technology, and intervention resources to support student learning.
• Support the implementation of school-wide academic intervention initiatives.
• Model and promote Catholic values through words and actions.
• Support students' spiritual development by participating in school liturgies, prayer services, and faith-based activities.
• Foster an environment of dignity, compassion, respect, and inclusion that reflects Catholic teachings.
• Uphold the philosophy, mission, and policies of the school and parish.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Valid teaching license with Special Education endorsement (or eligibility for certification).
• Experience working with elementary-aged students with diverse learning needs.
• Knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies, differentiated instruction, and intervention programs.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
• Strong understanding of learning disabilities, ADHD, executive functioning, dyslexia, and other exceptional learning profiles.
• Ability to analyze assessment data to guide instruction.
• Effective collaboration with teachers, families, and outside service providers.
• Proficiency with educational technology and student data management systems.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move throughout the school building.
• Ability to lift instructional materials up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to supervise students in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and during school activities.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.

This position has a salary range of $38, for a Lay employee and $35,686 –$62,316 for a Religious employee. An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on many factors including but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
