Arcadis is seeking an entry-level Geotechnical/Environmental Engineer to join our team in Hoffman Estates, IL. We are looking for a candidate with strong organizational and team building skills, who feels comfortable with a dynamic workflow. As part of our Resilience Environment team, you’ll help improve quality of life. You will work alongside Senior Scientists, Engineers, Project/Program Managers, and Technical Experts on various activities in support of diverse utility expansion, environmental assessment, and remediation projects.
Roleaccountabilities
Our services encompass a range of responsibilities aimed at geotechnical and environmental support for utility clients. You will specialize in providing program support for a diverse portfolio of projects. You will actively participate in field investigations, sampling activities, and construction oversight. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in fostering effective communication by engaging in face‑to‑face meetings with contractors, clients, technical teams, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities may include a combination of field and office related tasks and will include periodic travel.
- Operation and maintenance oversight for remediation systems (both water and vapor treatment systems)
- Soil and groundwater investigation and sample collection
- Site characterization and feasibility studies
- Data compilation, evaluation, and QA/QC
- Report writing, permitting, cost estimating support
- Coordination with project managers and senior engineering staff
The successful candidate will be involved in interpreting and evaluating field and analytical data in order to prepare engineering parameters, permit applications, and construction‑related documents. This position will require travel and field work. In summary, an ideal candidate for the position would have proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong communication skills, a focus on health and safety, and excellent team‑building and organizational abilities.
Field work will require daily regional business travel. A few times per year, travel will be required within the U.S. for up to two weeks at a time. A valid driver’s license is required. Travel expenses are reimbursable.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Geotechnical, Environmental, Civil, or related engineering field
- EIT Certification

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $53,094–$84,950.
Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
