Greater Chicago Area (Hoffman Estates).

Reports To:

Director of Industrial Hygiene.

A growing engineering and environmental consulting firm is seeking a Senior Industrial Hygiene Professional to support and lead complex industrial hygiene and hazardous materials projects. This is a leadership-oriented role with a strong emphasis on project delivery, team oversight, client interaction, and technical quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead planning, execution, and delivery of industrial hygiene and hazardous materials projects.
  • Oversee sampling strategies, data analysis, and technical reporting in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and state regulations.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including scope, budget, schedule, and resource allocation.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, field personnel, and project teams.
  • Review reports, drawings, and technical deliverables for accuracy and quality.
  • Coordinate with clients, laboratories, and internal leadership on technical matters.
  • Support proposal development, client management, and business development efforts.
  • Conduct and oversee site investigations, audits, and regulatory compliance assessments.
  • Develop and implement IH programs (e.g., noise, ventilation, air monitoring, asbestos/lead management).
  • Perform and oversee hazardous materials surveys and remediation monitoring (asbestos, lead‑based paint, etc.).
  • Interpret sampling results and communicate findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
Technical Duties
  • Conduct building inspections and review construction drawings to plan survey activities.
  • Collect bulk, air, and wipe samples (asbestos, lead, mold, dust, etc.) using established methods (OSHA/NIOSH/HUD).
  • Perform non‑destructive testing (e.g., XRF for lead‑based paint).
  • Calibrate and operate field instrumentation.
  • Prepare detailed reports including narratives, data summaries, and photo logs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), active and in good standing.
  • 10-15 years of relevant experience, including leadership or project management responsibility.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state health & safety regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and technical writing skills.
  • Valid driver's license with ability to travel to project sites as needed.
