Job Description

The Design Engineer is responsible for developing and testing unique designs for products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of new products/components and enhancements of existing product offerings
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product development and launch
  • Participate in the creation and modification of prototypes
  • Directly interface with customers for project status, design proposals, information collection, and functional assistance
  • Prepare and present technical reports to team members and management
  • Design products & components using CAD & other engineering software
  • Analyze and interpret technical data to ensure designs meet standards and requirements
  • Develop and execute engineering test plans for new product qualification
  • Support sustaining engineering efforts on current product lines
  • Support engineering documentation procedures which include ECR's and new spec releases
  • Analyze and disposition first piece inspection reports & PPAPs

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in product design and development
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar tools
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Technical background or experience with motor component design (AC, DC, BLDC) and gearbox component design (gears, shafts, bearings, castings)
  • Experience with product testing and evaluation
  • Ability to create and/or work with product performance specifications
  • Understanding of relevant manufacturing processes
  • Experience with DFMEA's and failure analysis.

Travel

  • This position may require visits to customer facilities for product evaluation, trouble shooting, progress discussions, proposals, and general customer support.
