The Retirement Plan Advisor at Clearwater Capital Partners is a client-facing role responsible for driving new retirement plan business while managing and advising a portfolio of institutional clients. The position combines business development, fiduciary oversight, and day-to-day plan advisory services, including proposals, plan design, investment oversight, and committee and participant education. As part of a growing RIA, the advisor builds long-term client relationships while ensuring compliant, high-quality retirement plan solutions that support strong participant outcomes.
This is a full-time, on-site position
Duties and Responsibilities- Proactively identify, cultivate, and pursue new retirement plan opportunities through direct outreach, networking, leveraging existing relationships, and participating in industry and community events; build and nurture prospect pipelines to support consistent business growth.
- Prepare and organize materials for service and recordkeeping platform proposals.
- Deliver prospect presentations to potential clients.
- Conduct retirement plan prospect research, evaluate opportunities, and review proposals with the Director of Retirement Plans.
- Support Wealth Advisor business through ongoing education and training initiatives.
- Manage the conversion process for new plan business and communicate progress to plan sponsors.
- Maintain and update the CRM and client records.
- Oversee and monitor a portfolio of Qualified and Non-Qualified plans, providing needed oversight.
- Review and maintain core investment funds within retirement plans for ongoing suitability.
- Manage Investment Committee and Participant Education requirements in collaboration with the team.
- Evaluate plan benchmarking , fee analysis, and periodic fund menu reviews performed by team members or third-party advisors, ensuring competitive, compliant results and providing actionable recommendations.
- Serve as a co-fiduciary and document plan decisions to mitigate sponsor liability and uphold regulatory standards.
- Advise clients on plan design optimization such as auto-enrollment, auto-escalation, Roth adoption, and eligibility changes, adapting to evolving workforce needs.
- Provide input for financial wellness programs, employee engagement initiatives, and participant communications to enhance retirement outcomes, collaborating as needed with colleagues or external partners.
- Understand payroll integration, vendor contracts, and the roles of service providers (recordkeepers, TPAs, auditors) to improve and streamline client experience.
- Use technology (e.g., plan dashboards, apps, wellness platforms) for reporting and analytics on plan health, participation, and retirement readiness.
- Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain required certifications in response to regulatory and industry changes.
- Experience preparing service proposals and organizing supporting materials for retirement plans.
- Skilled in delivering polished presentations to both prospective and current clients.
- Proficient in conducting prospect research, engagement, and proposal review in partnership with team leaders.
- Ability to facilitate education programs and training for clients.
- Skilled in tracking plan conversions, updating key stakeholders, and managing implementation timelines.
- Detail-oriented and organized in maintaining CRM databases and client records.
- Ability to provide oversight for retirement plan portfolios, including Qualified and Non-Qualified plans.
- Experience collaborating on Investment Committee agendas and Participant Education strategies.
- Knowledge of benchmarking, fee analysis, and fund review processes for retirement plans.
- Understanding of co-fiduciary roles and regulatory requirements (SECURE Act, IRS, DOL, ERISA).
- Familiarity with plan design features and trends in workforce retirement needs.
- Proficiency in the use of plan analytics and technology platforms for reporting on plan health and participant activity.
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience acquiring new retirement plan clients and providing ongoing support for plan administration, service, or consulting.
- Active Series 65 license (Uniform Investment Adviser Law Exam) required.
- Commitment to continuous learning, including maintaining and pursuing additional credentials (such as AIF, CRPS, etc.) as needed to stay current with industry standards.
