Certified Veterinary Technician – Emergency

Full-time overnight shift opportunity – 3-day work week:
Th/Fr/Sat.

Role Responsibilities
  • Support emergency veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  • Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with state Veterinary Practice Act for credentialed veterinary technicians.
  • Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns, medications, and additional treatments.
  • Maintain comprehensive medical records using practice systems.
  • Obtain relevant health history and maintain medical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
Experience & Skills Requirements
  • Preferred: CVT, CVT eligible, CVT students; CVT not required.
  • Clinical background in ER or urgent care veterinary medicine required.
  • Anesthesia experience highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical treatments (CRI setup/maintenance, NG tubes, central line placement, glucose curves, post‑surgical care, oxygen‑dependent patients, blocked cats, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of infectious diseases and systemic disorders.
  • Ability to perform routine in‑house laboratory procedures (collection, preparation, handling of specimens) per hospital protocols.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of laboratory testing and necessary samples.
  • Articulate professional veterinary verbiage while maintaining a medical record.
  • High‑level communication with clients and referral partners.
  • Basic emergency care including CPR.
  • Motivated and takes initiative to help teammates in any situation.
