Great Lakes Christian Homes (GLCH), part of the nonprofit Greencroft Communities, is looking for a Maintenance Technician to help keep our campus safe, comfortable, and welcoming for our residents and team members.
This is a great opportunity for someone with general maintenance experience—or someone with a background in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, or related trades—who wants meaningful work in a supportive community environment.
What You'll Do
You'll play an important role in keeping our campus running smoothly. Your day may include:
- Completing maintenance requests and preventative maintenance.
- Repairing and maintaining buildings, equipment, and facilities.
- Patching and painting resident rooms and common areas.
- Performing carpet cleaning and floor care as needed.
- Maintaining lawns, landscaping, and outdoor areas.
- Performing snow removal and helping keep walkways and exterior areas safe.
- Identifying and reporting safety hazards and maintenance concerns.
- Stocking and organizing maintenance supplies.
- Assisting with equipment and resident moves when needed.
- Working with contractors and other team members on maintenance projects.
- Helping coordinate move-ins and completing maintenance work on schedule.
- Maintaining a clean, safe, and attractive campus.
- Providing friendly and respectful service to residents while completing work in their homes and community spaces.
- Participating in the every 4th weekend on-call rotation.
What We're Looking For
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- General knowledge of building and equipment maintenance.
- Valid driver's license in good standing.
- Knowledge of basic building codes and safety practices.
- Ability to use common maintenance tools and equipment.
- Ability to communicate and work professionally with residents, families, coworkers, and contractors.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.
A plus, but not required:
Training or experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, or other skilled trades.
