Wound Care Nurse

Position

Wound Care Nurse (RN or LPN) – Full and Part Time, every other weekend.

• Function as a charge nurse by serving as a resource person to staff, answering questions, problem solving, and making decisions relevant to resident care.
• Monitor the resident’s overall condition and provide care as required while maintaining compliance with facility policy and procedures.
• Provide primary skin care to residents under the medical direction and supervision of the attending physicians or Director of Nursing Services, emphasizing treatment and therapy of skin disorders.
• Identify, manage, and treat specific skin disorders, primary and secondary lesions, and decubitus ulcers.
• Ensure that residents with decubitus ulcers receive appropriate prophylaxis and treatment such as daily inspection, turning and activity, a well-planned diet, and maintaining a clean, dry bed.
• Participate in the development and implementation of an individualized patient care plan with allied health team members.
• Implement total nursing care plan through assessment, planning and evaluation.
• Provide medical care, including taking vital signs and administering medication.
• Properly and accurately document all actions and changes for each resident.
• Provide oversight for certified nursing assistants.
• Maintain a positive attitude toward residents and teammates.
