Position Summary

The Foster Care Program Supervisor is responsible for providing supervision and oversight of NYAPs’ Foster Care Program. This position provides a unique opportunity to support the development of statewide foster care services to ensure children and youth have a foster home prepared with the knowledge, skills, and supports necessary for safety, permanency, and well-being. This position works closely with the program directors and provides leadership, management, and direct supervision to program staff.

The Program Supervisor is action-oriented and hands-on in developing the foster care program and ensuring NYAP services make a meaningful difference in the lives of the children, youth, and families served.

Shift hours: 9am - 5pm

Responsibilities
  • Perform all work in a manner consistent with the National Youth Advocate Program’s mission, values, and philosophies.
  • Collaborate with DCFS to ensure the placement team complies with all monitoring measures, ensuring that DCFS policies and procedures are followed.
  • Review and approve service plans and court reports for direct reports.
  • Provide oversight and support to direct reports in preparation to attend Administrative Case Reviews and Child and Family Team meetings.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make critical case decisions, including but not limited to placement decisions in collaboration with program leadership or their designee.
  • Ensure all DCFS required documentation on cases and case files is compliant with DCFS standards.
  • Provide coaching, shadowing, and mentoring to volunteers, interns, and direct reports in accordance with the NYAP onboarding training plan for Foster Care.
  • Coordinate all intake services, initial paperwork, and documentation and provide robust case coordination, case assignment, and planning to direct reports.
  • Conduct staff supervision for direct reports on a regularly scheduled basis and maintain accurate documentation for organizational and regulatory purposes in state portals and Electronic Health Records.
  • Provide oversight and assist in family reunification and/or stabilization efforts with the youth's primary family, kinship caregiver, or other permanent living arrangement consistent with the youth's case plan.
  • Liaise with the child welfare custodial agency, juvenile court, educational system, external service providers, and community resources to ensure that the youth and family have access to a coordinated system of care.
  • Lead and maintain Continuous Quality Assurance efforts in accordance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements on a weekly or monthly basis.
  • Work collaboratively with other clinical, treatment, and support staff throughout the organization.
  • Sign off on all Incident Reports and other required reports as well as submit the reports for processing according to agency and regulatory requirements.
  • Travel is needed to provide and support the provision of services to, and on behalf of, youth and families in compliance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in assigned NYAP training and development activities commensurate with the position, as well as DCFS regulatory requirements for in-service training
