Engineering Maintenance Apprentice

Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) has been providing quality service since 1957. We are one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. Our company is seeking a qualified individual with industry experience. Reporting directly to the Chief Building Engineer or the Account Manager-Engineering, the Maintenance Apprentice will be tasked with general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and property structures, as well as grounds maintenance while floating to different locations.

Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, some hands-on maintenance experience, proficiency in light plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, and painting, all tasks must be performed in accordance with EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety regulations. Full-Time Maintenance Apprentice

Downtown Oahu (Honolulu, HI 96813)

• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and repairs, including:
  Basic plumbing, electrical work, mechanical systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), painting/drywall and grounds maintenance
• Access small spaces measuring 18 inches by 18 inches.
• Ensure that mechanical equipment and systems are functioning properly and perform repairs as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service when interacting with property managers, vendors, and customers.
• Engage in constant movement, including standing, walking, bending, and stretching throughout shifts.
• Lift, push, and pull weights ranging from 50 to 75 pounds.
• Walk and stand for extended periods and bend frequently during the shift.
• Create and maintain work orders. Create and maintain purchase orders.
• Complete any additional maintenance-related tasks as assigned by the HBM supervisor or property management.

• Must pass a background check.
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Customer service-oriented approach
• General maintenance experience
• Basic mathematical skills
• Previous experience in creating and maintaining work orders and purchase orders.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Eagerness to learn and grow

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8am-5pm, Must be available to work 3 Saturdays / 3 months of the year (Total of 9 Saturdays annually)

Compensation per hour: $20.00
