Overview
Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) has been providing quality service since 1957. We are one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. Our company is seeking a qualified individual with industry experience. Reporting directly to the Chief Building Engineer or the Account Manager-Engineering, the Maintenance Apprentice will be tasked with general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and property structures, as well as grounds maintenance while floating to different locations.
Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, some hands-on maintenance experience, proficiency in light plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, and painting, all tasks must be performed in accordance with EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety regulations. PositionFull-Time Maintenance Apprentice
LocationDowntown Oahu (Honolulu, HI 96813)
Key Responsibilities- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and repairs, including:
Basic plumbing, electrical work, mechanical systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), painting/drywall and grounds maintenance - Access small spaces measuring 18 inches by 18 inches.
- Ensure that mechanical equipment and systems are functioning properly and perform repairs as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with property managers, vendors, and customers.
- Engage in constant movement, including standing, walking, bending, and stretching throughout shifts.
- Lift, push, and pull weights ranging from 50 to 75 pounds.
- Walk and stand for extended periods and bend frequently during the shift.
- Create and maintain work orders. Create and maintain purchase orders.
- Complete any additional maintenance-related tasks as assigned by the HBM supervisor or property management.
- Must pass a background check.
- Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Customer service-oriented approach
- General maintenance experience
- Basic mathematical skills
- Previous experience in creating and maintaining work orders and purchase orders.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Eagerness to learn and grow
Schedule: Monday to Friday 8am-5pm, Must be available to work 3 Saturdays / 3 months of the year (Total of 9 Saturdays annually)
