Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) has been providing quality service since 1957. We are one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. Our company is seeking a qualified individual with industry experience. Reporting directly to the Chief Building Engineer or the Account Manager-Engineering, the Maintenance Technician / Utility Technician will be tasked with general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and property structures, as well as grounds maintenance while floating to different locations.
Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, previous hands‑on maintenance experience, proficiency in light plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, and painting. Full-Time Maintenance Technician / Utility Technician - Location:
Honolulu, HI 96813 (Downtown Oahu) - Schedule:
Variable, Monday to Friday between the hours of 8 am – 8:30 pm (5 days, 40 hours a week)
Must have open availability, subject to emergencies: after hours, weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs: painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and grounds maintenance.
- Show excellent customer service skills to interact with property managers, vendors, customers, etc.
- Drive to different locations to provide coverage.
- Able to lift, push, pull a minimum of 50 lbs up to 75 lbs, walk, bend, stretch during shift.
- Ensure mechanical equipment and systems are working in order and fixed as necessary.
- Create and maintain work orders.
- Create and maintain purchase orders.
- Perform any additional maintenance‑related duties as required by Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) supervisor/property management.
- Must pass background check.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
- Must have basic hand tools.
- General preventative maintenance experience is required (basic commercial plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and drywall).
- Troubleshooting abilities.
- Mechanical aptitude.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English. - Must have good public relations skills and communication.
- Customer service oriented.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Applicants must perform basic manual labor, clean common areas, frequently lift, press, push, pull, carry a minimum of 50 lbs (up to 75 lbs), be able to reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk, walk up and down a stairway, climb up/down a ladder and stand throughout their shift.

Compensation range per hour: $20.00 – $24.00.
