Field Technician II- Honolulu

The Role

Field Technician II. Under minimal supervision, perform installation, decommissioning, and troubleshooting of network equipment and circuits for fiber, transport equipment, and critical infrastructures. Responsible for outside plant network including metro and long‑haul fibers.

Honolulu, HI.

• Troubleshoot network equipment, replace defective equipment, and isolate and restore network connectivity.
• Install, change, decommission, and test next‑generation technologies such as Edge Compute, Wavelength services, Fiber Optic Transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP layers; install and test customer equipment (CPE) and deliver end‑user services.
• Operate AC power (limited basis) and DC power installs including tertiary and BDCBB.
• Manage large Net Build projects (PM duties).
• Use industry standard software and hardware to locate, mark, and protect underground facilities accurately.
• Maintain asset management processes, replenish on‑site and truck materials, and coordinate shipping and receiving of company and customer materials.
• Perform level 1 preventive maintenance and inspections on network and critical infrastructure equipment such as HVAC systems, high‑voltage electrical systems, and DC power plants.
• Proficiently use required systems and applications, update inventory records, complete transactional updates, log time, and provide status updates and issue reports to management.

• 2+ years of experience installing, testing, and turning up telecom equipment including SONET, DCS, DWDM, routers and switches.
• Strong technical and mechanical background on transport gear, critical infrastructure, and fiber optic cable locating and splice.
• Experience in at least two of:
  Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit‑switching/SS7), TCP/IP (routers and higher‑layer protocols), Outside Plant (OTDR, mass fusion splicing).
• Ability to make technical evaluations and judgment while building internal and external networks.
• Maintain site security and cleanliness.
• PC skills and familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office.
• Fast learner for corporate databases.
• 24x7 on‑call on a rotational basis with dispatch and overtime as required.
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Attention to detail, organizational and time‑management skills.
• Physical capability to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; lift 50 pounds; work in all weather conditions.

Minimum and maximum salary may vary by location. Base pay is based on skills, experience and other factors.

Location‑based pay ranges: $52,212 – $69,615 in HI.
