Duties
-Accomplishes quality assurance inspections
-Debriefs customers/vehicle operators and performs incoming inspections on special purpose, heavy, general purpose type vehicles and vehicular equipment.
-Performs heavy mobile equipment and automotive mechanic work
-Utilizes established practices, procedures, and regulations regarding safety, security, and environmental issues; maintains safe and clean work environment; participates in assigned shop upkeep efforts; completes all required reports, forms, work orders, inspection and certification forms, and time sheets; and participates in productivity measurement studies, evaluations, and assessments

* The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position.
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program.
* Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety
* Incumbent must possess or have the capability to acquire an appropriate Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and any required endorsements within 12 months of assignment. This requirement is a condition of employment
* Employee is required to utilize security and safety practices and procedures at all times. Must wear protective safety equipment and clothing when appropriate.
* Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
* May be required to travel TDY as directed by management, sometimes on short notice and including overnight stays, traveling by military or commercial aircraft or by any other designated means.
* May be required to participate in contingency situations, real world and exercise. This position requires a physical/medical examination. This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function
* which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance
* The duty of this position meets all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency
* or office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and CAN NOT become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW:
DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve" Qualifications The physical requirements of this position as determined by the manager are:
Employee regularly handles weights of up to 40 pounds unassisted. Employee occasionally handles weights up to 60 pounds. Material handling devices and assistance of other workers are available for handling especially heavy items. Heavy exertion is frequent. Frequent kneeling, crouching, stooping, and walking are required. In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5800-Transportation/Mobile Equipment Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to perform the duties of a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT REPAIR INSPECTOR without more than normal supervision. JOB ELEMENTS:
