Campus Custodians (Temporary)
Kamehameha Schools has openings for Temporary Custodians to support our Kapalama Campus. Our Campus Custodians maintain a safe & clean environment for our students to thrive in.
Pay for these positions can range from $22-25/hr. based on experience. This position may be filled as a level I or II.
Our ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of prior custodial, janitorial and/or housekeeping experience.
Job SummaryEntry-level position that works with direction and supervision to perform general custodial services, event set up services (interior & exterior), and provides assistance to other custodians as needed.
Essential ResponsibilitiesCustodial Services
- Reviews work to be performed in advance with Custodian II/III to ensure understanding of work-related risks and proper mitigation to ensure safety.
- Assists or performs custodial services by performing simple duties of lesser skill.
- Assists with assembling materials and tools for work to be performed.
- With guidance, prepares work areas for work to be performed, and cleans work areas, machines, and equipment following work completion.
- With guidance, assists other Custodians in performing a wide range of custodial services.
- With direction, may independently perform general custodial services.
Safety
- Attends all technical and safety-training, including on-the-job training, uses all PPE, and adheres to safety guidance.
- Reviews work to be performed in advance with Custodians II or III to ensure understanding of work-related risks and proper mitigations to ensure safety.
- Reports all safety hazards to supervisor and/or immediately corrects if able to.
Administrative
- Participates in campus and department events and activities as scheduled.
- Adheres to all employee handbook protocols and policies including mandatory reporting.
- Constructively identifies and suggests ways to improve organizational effectiveness and operational efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Good work ethic, including punctuality and good attendance.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills and knowledge; ability to demonstrate increasing competence with training and experience.
- Willingness to accept and follow directions.
- Ability to read and comprehend training materials.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow safety instructions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules to accommodate after-hours school-related functions and activities.
- Demonstrated values of inclusion.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Often requires physical work; lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds.
- Often requires walking/standing, bending/crouching/reaching/etc., and at times sitting.
- Manual dexterity and strength to work with hand tools.
- Work may involve exposure to extreme temperatures and contact with hazardous materials, dust, dirt, smoke, unpleasant odors, loud noises, etc.
- Often work outdoors and indoors.
- Works in partnership and as a team with other Custodians in performing a wide range of custodial services
- Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday in the afternoons and evenings, but morning or weekend hours maybe required to meet goals and objectives.
