We are seeking an Electronic Monitoring (EM) Program Coordinator to support commercial fisheries monitoring programs in Hawaii and American Samoa. In this role, you will divide your time between hands‑on installation and servicing of electronic monitoring systems in port, coordinating project activities and service schedules, and working with program regulators to ensure high‑quality comprehensive data collection.

WHAT IS THE POSITION?

The Pacific Islands Program Coordinator position encompasses a combination of fieldwork, project coordination, and data review to support program operations. This role requires a high level of communication with industry members (fishers and processors), fisheries agencies, project partners, and other Archipelago staff.

Fieldwork responsibilities include the installation and servicing of CCTV cameras and computer components onboard commercial fishing vessels in Hawaii and American Samoa. The administrative and data review components of the role require intermediate computer hardware and software skills, knowledge of commercial longline fishing practices, and the ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse group of stakeholders.

The position is based in Honolulu and may require occasional travel to American Samoa for installation and service work. Some evening and weekend work will be necessary to meet industry schedules. This is a full‑time, 40‑hour‑per‑week position.

WHAT ARE THE SPECIFIC DUTIES?
  • Coordinate vessel installation and service schedules
  • Install, remove, and service electronic monitoring (EM) camera systems and computer components onboard commercial fishing vessels in Honolulu and American Samoa
  • Manage the ordering, storage, and inventory of electronic monitoring equipment components and related components
  • Troubleshoot and replace electronic equipment and CCTV cameras onboard commercial fishing vessels (land‑based only)
  • Respond to phone calls, emails, and messages from fishing vessel crew who require assistance with equipment issues
  • Participate in scheduled calls and meetings with NOAA/PSMFC staff, Archipelago Program Managers, and project partners
  • Prepare detailed reports of completed work and associated expenses.
