Description
Salary Range: $4,849.00 per month
Responsibilities- Directs work of subordinates in providing custodial services for a school
- Assigns, lays out, inspects and supervises the work of subordinates to ensure buildings and grounds are clean and orderly
- Personally performs more difficult maintenance work to plumbing and electrical fixtures and to woodwork not requiring journey worker level skills
- Supervises custodial staff in preparing for special school functions
- Oversees cleaning and operational maintenance of special school equipment such as swimming pools, auditoriums and loud speaker systems
- Supervises or participates in propagation and cultivation of flowers, plants and lawns
- Requisition s, receives, stores and is responsible for janitorial supplies and equipment; conducts periodic inventories
- Maintains records of supplies dispensed and equipment issued
- Reports on work accomplished and on unusual happenings or accidents
- Keeps daily time sheets
- Has security responsibility for the school
- Turns night lights on and off at proper hours
- May supervise student help when assigned
- May operate power equipment such as power lawn mowers
- May perform typical duties of lower level custodians if necessary
Experience Requirement: General Experience with progressively responsible work in custodial or related areas, and supervisory experience as described below.
- Janitorial or related custodial work such as sweeping, dusting and cleaning of buildings
- Grounds maintenance including cleaning, watering, fertilizing, trimming, mowing, sweeping and raking
- General laboring such as moving materials, furniture and equipment; loading/unloading trucks; carrying, unloading and stacking tools and supplies; digging trenches and ditches
For School Custodian III, at least one year of work experience must be comparable in nature and scope to that of a School Custodian in the State service. Applicants must demonstrate supervisory aptitude through supervisory assignments, training, or favorable supervisor evaluations.

Experience:
The required years of experience must reflect appropriate scope and responsibility to demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Salary: The advertised salary is based on full-time employment and may include differential for shortage and school year where applicable.
Requirements: Applicants must meet all requirements for the position as of the date of application. Calculation of experience is based on full-time, 40-hour workweeks; part-time experience is pro-rated.
Temporary Assignment: Documentation of TA experience may be required to meet minimum qualifications.

Payday
:
New employees can expect their first paycheck within the first 3 pay periods of their start date. Payday is on the 5th and 20th of every month or the previous business day.
