Position Summary
Under direct supervision, the Gas Operations Technical Specialist Trainee operates and maintains electronic equipment, including RTUs, electronic controllers, pneumatic controls, and compressor control panels. The trainee is trained under senior Gas Operations Technical Specialists to learn all aspects of the job performed by the GOTS and to prepare for a full specialist role.
Incremental PremiumEligible employees who live within 40 miles of the SOCO Summit County Operations Center receive an incremental premium of 32.5% of base pay.
Essential Responsibilities- Assist and support GOTS to operate, maintain, install, and calibrate electronic and pneumatic controls and measurement equipment.
- Assist and support GOTS to maintain SCADA system.
- In training to repair electronic and pneumatic compressor, plant controls, and digital circuits.
- Assist and support GOTS to install, program, and repair RTUs and electronic measurement equipment.
- Assist and support GOTS to conduct cathodic protection surveys, repair cathodic protection systems, and design and install new systems.
- Assist and support GOTS to install new pipelines, working with contractors to ensure quality and timely work.
- Assist and support GOTS to write and complete capital work orders using Passport software.
- Assist and support GOTS to be responsible for the goals of the Business Unit as they relate to the position.
- Assist and support GOTS to order material to ensure compatibility with existing equipment and investigate costs before selecting equipment.
- Assist and support GOTS to provide technical support and direction as needed to the team.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and current industry practices.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience in gas delivery systems operations, specifically compressor control panels, automated control systems, AC/DC analog and digital control circuits, process control technology, and DOT rules and regulations, or a related technical college degree.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Four or more years of experience in gas delivery systems operations, specifically compressor control panels, automated control systems, AC/DC analog and digital control circuits, process control technology, and DOT rules and regulations.
- Experience in other areas of Natural Gas Transmission.
