We currently have an immediate vacancy for a full-time Landscaping/Maintenance Helper to provide good customer service, clean, and maintain operations at a hotel. The ideal candidates should possess strong communication skills and have prior experience in landscaping, custodian or related experience in a hospitality or maintenance setting. The position often involves ensuring that pathways and public areas remain clean and safe for visitors.
This role demands an eye for detail, a passion for nature, collaborate closely with other departments to foster a positive guest experience, adhere to safety procedures. Type:
Full-time, 5 days a week (40 hours)
Schedule:
Monday to Friday: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (training at assigned site) Must be available to work on the weekends and weekends Saturday and/or Sunday: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM after training has been completed.
Compensation per hour: $20.66
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and maintain the surrounding areas to ensure a tidy and welcoming environment.
- Trim leaves and maintain the health and appearance of various plants.
- Water plants manually when the sprinkler system is not functional.
- Maintain and enhance the aesthetic of flower beds.
- Plant flowers and trees such as Plumeria, Hibiscus and other.
- Safely cut and remove trees as needed.
- Manage soil quality and ensure effective fertilization.
- Conduct regular irrigation checks to identify problems and shut off valves to correct issues. Coordinate with Site Supervisor in the engineering department for control and solenoid valve adjustments.
- Perform painting tasks to maintain and improve facilities.
- Restock supplies and ensure all materials are available as needed.
- Carry and transport equipment, with the ability to handle weights ranging from 30 to 50 pounds.
- Apply chemical treatments safely as a pesticide handler, using proper PPE
- Assist the maintenance team during emergencies or provide coverage when necessary.
- Participate in preventive maintenance tasks to address before issue arise.
Skills/
Qualifications:
- Applicants should be capable of performing physical task including: pressing, pushing, and pulling, carrying a minimum of 25 lbs. (up to 50 lbs.), reaching overhead, grasping objects, bending, kneeling, walking, crawling, squatting, climbing, stretching, and walking up and down stairs, using a ladder to climb up and down and standing for the duration of their shifts.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English
- Previous experience in landscaping, hospitality, maintenance or related roles preferred
- Knowledge of safe pesticide handling and application preferred.
- Familiarity with basic irrigation and plant care techniques preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Must pass HBM prescreen check
