Position Information
Do you have experience repairing heavy vehicle tires?
The Department of Facility Maintenance , Automotive Equipment Service Division , is looking for three (3) Tire Repair Workers experienced in changing and repairing automotive and truck tires to work at the Halawa Corporation Yard. Most duties involve working on tires and tubes from passenger vehicles, heavy trucks, construction equipment, and other heavy-duty equipment. You will also perform basic vehicle maintenance duties requiring the knowledge and skills to help keep City vehicles safe and operational for our employees.
WhatYou'll Do
- Change, repair, mount, and replace tires and tubes
- Operate tire changing machines, hydraulic lifts, impact tools, and other shop equipment
- Drive a non-CDL City Tire Repair & Service Truck to respond to roadside and job-site tire repair calls across Oahu
- Refuel diesel, gas, and L.P.G. powered vehicles and equipment
- Keeps written records of work performed, including work orders, inspection forms, and fuel records
- Help keep the shop clean, safe, stocked, and organized
- Serves as a Disaster Response Worker during times of emergencies.
- Exposure to a potential explosive separation of a multi-piece rim wheel or a sudden release of the contained air of a single-piece rim wheel.

Minimum Qualification RequirementsAt time of application, you must be a citizen, national, or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
Experience RequirementSome experience and/or training in changing and repairing automotive and truck tires.
DesirableExperience:
experience repairing heavy vehicle tires, including roadside repair.
License RequirementPossession of a valid appropriate driver's license (automobile/Type
3), prior to appointment.
