The Facilities Technician supports the American National Red Cross mission by maintaining safe, reliable, and efficient facilities for staff, volunteers, and clients. Working in the Facilities & Maintenance department, this role performs preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems, equipment, and grounds. Responsibilities include troubleshooting basic HVAC, electrical, and plumbing issues, responding to work orders and emergencies, and helping prepare sites for blood drives, trainings, and disaster response.
The technician collaborates with a compassionate, mission-driven team, ensuring clean, code-compliant, and functional spaces that enable critical humanitarian services every day.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems, equipment, and grounds to support Red Cross operations.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, escalating complex issues as needed.
- Respond to work orders and facility emergencies to ensure safe, clean, and functional environments for staff, volunteers, and clients.
- Support disaster response and mission-critical activities by preparing facilities, staging areas, and storage spaces.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams for scheduled service, repairs, and facility projects.
- Maintain maintenance records, logs, and inventories of tools, supplies, and building systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety, OSHA, fire, and building codes; support regular safety inspections and drills.
- Set up rooms, equipment, and logistics for trainings, blood drives, and community events.
- Operate hand and power tools, lifts, and other equipment following safety standards.
- Contribute to a collaborative, mission-driven culture that values compassion, diversity, and volunteer support.
