Position: Valve / Actuator Technician - Seasonal Workforce

Responsibilities

  • Perform disassembly and assembly of new control valves, including reading and interpreting sales orders and customer data sheets.
  • Safely disassemble valves and parts of various types such as sliding stem valves, rotary ball valves, rotary butterfly valves, high‑performance rotary butterfly valves, bolted bonnet gate, globe, and check valves, soft‑seated ball valves, pressure globe, and rotary valves.
  • Safely disassemble actuators of various types, including double‑acting pneumatic sliding stem piston actuators, double‑acting pneumatic rotary piston actuators, single‑acting sliding stem spring and diaphragm actuators, and single‑acting rotary spring and diaphragm actuators.
  • Evaluate and maintain material awareness by marking parts correctly, organizing and segregating them, performing chemical solvent cleaning when needed, and inspecting parts to ensure critical dimension requirements are met.
  • Complete all quality control sheets, including date, sign‑off, and status.
  • Understand and comply with all special requirements for assembly, factory, and customer specifications.
  • Perform machining processes such as using a drill press or pneumatic tools for drilling and pinning stems for valve plugs, and hand grinding for polishing flange and sealing surfaces.
  • Assemble control valves from repair order instructions, customer test‑report/specialization sheets, and OEM IOM manuals, performing calibration of all positioners and controllers.
  • Install stem packing, attach actuators to valves, set correct valve travel, and set correct bench set on actuator.
  • Tube up positioners and controllers to actuators and other accessories efficiently and accurately.
  • Test control valves according to applicable code test requirements using compressed air, water, and nitrogen, and complete accurate and thorough test reports.
  • Tube up, calibrate, and troubleshoot pneumatic and digital positioners and controllers per factory or customer spec sheets, including Fisher 3582, 3582I, 3610J, 3610JP, 3620, 3620JP, DVC
    6200, DVC
    2000, Fisher C1P pressure controller, and Fisher 2500 pneumatic level controller.
  • Disassemble and assemble new regulators and relief valves, including direct‑operated and pilot‑operated types.
  • Perform spring, orifice, and body changes to various regulator and relief valve types.
  • Test all regulators and relief valves and set them to the desired set point.
  • Tag, seal, and prepare products for shipping, including priming and painting while adhering to safety rules, proper cleanup, and paint waste disposal.
  • Understand and uphold the JHC TCC (Total Customer Commitment) standards at all times.
  • Actively support JHC colleagues and build solid relationships internally and externally.
  • Travel when required and applicable.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Education and Work Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years in the valve repair industry preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of control valves, pneumatic safety systems, and rotary valves.
  • Ability to read and understand customer data specification sheets for final assembly of control valves and regulators.
  • Basic knowledge of industrial regulators.
  • Knowledge of various pneumatic positioners and controllers used on control valves.
  • Safe and confident use of basic hand and pneumatic tools.
  • Experience working as a self‑directed field/shop environment worker.
  • Preferred experience with bending and running tubing.
  • Read and record measurements using standard measuring tools: manual torque wrenches, dial calipers, Vernier calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, tape measure, and scale.
  • TWIC, OSHA Safety, Security Passport.
  • Valid state‑issued driver’s license.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • None.
Travel
  • As needed throughout the Gulf Coast region.
