Under the supervision of the Operations Manager the incumbent is responsible for operating a backhoe to assist with snow removal and other winter maintenance tasks.
* Operate backhoe equipment safely and efficiently for snow removal and other winter maintenance tasks.
* Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any issues.
* Clear snow and ice from roads, sidewalks, bus stops, and any drainage components in accordance project specifications.
* Collaborate with team supervisor and other team members to complete tasks in a timely manner.
* Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
* Assist with de-icing and salting operations as needed.
* Maintain a clean and organized work area.
* Report progress and any obstacles encountered to the supervisor.
* Traffic control setup and removal
* Transport crew and equipment to work sites
* Required to be available for emergency response rotations as needed for overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
* All other duties as assigned.

- Ability to work in an environment in which demands and priorities change rapidly.

Minimum of three (3) years related work experience in construction, road maintenance, commercial/industrial repair, maintenance or landscaping (outdoor work) (Preferred)
Experience operating a backhoe in winter maintenance (preferred)
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted

Highly developed sense of safety awareness and perceptive ability. You must have the ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks and make adjustments to avoid loss, injury or accident. You must be able to communicate with co-workers' safety instructions. You must be able to think clearly and focus on your safety in your immediate surroundings, while using tools and equipment, while driving or operating equipment.
