The OpportunityWe are looking for skilled Fiber Optic Splicers who are local to the area. The successful candidate must be adept in data management, logistics, and operations, be excited about opportunities to learn and grow in their career and be able to execute various projects at a time. This position will report to the Fiber Optic Manager and offers an opportunity to join a strong, collaborative team at an early stage of growth, gain valuable experience, and contribute to the continued expansion of GRC.
Responsibilities- Working with clients to plan installations, installing aerial and underground cabling, and pulling it through conduits
- Follow blueprints and technical diagrams to ensure correct installation
- Provide detailed production forecast and updates to GRC/Vero project management team
- Maintain accurate production statuses and statistics in Vero’s proprietary project management platform
- Troubleshooting problems on existing network lines and providing 24/7 emergency response support.
- Maintain all equipment in good working condition and report any malfunctions.
- Maintain and calibrate splicing equipment and tools
- Documenting installations and test results
- Oversee health & safety programs, ensuring compliance with state/local/DOT/OSHA reqs.
- Work constructively with permitting agencies, DOT/OSHA inspectors and other stakeholders
- Preventive and emergency maintenance of Vero’s network assets in all GRC markets, including utility locates, route drives, damage prevention and repairs
- Helping customers set up new service, consulting with construction crews, and repairing or replacing faulty equipment
- Use testing equipment to check the integrity and performance of fiber optic cable
- Diagnose and fix issues related to signal loss or cable damage
- Maintaining proper traffic control and safety while being efficient
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A valid driver's license is required for all positions
- Vocational training or an associate degree in telecommunication, electronics, or a related field is often preferred, but not required
- Previous experience in fiber splicing, telecommunications, or related fields is highly desirable, but not required
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills
- Strong process and documentation orientation with a focus on continuous improvement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Google Suite (Sheets, etc.), Google Maps, Google Earth, and project management tools
$20 - $25 Hourly, based on experience
Schedule Options- 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts
- On-call and weekend availability
- Day Shift: Monday - Friday
- Night Shift: Sunday - Thursday
