What You’ll Do On a Typical Day- Lead and oversee daily shop operations, including workflow planning, repair scheduling, and technician assignments.
- Supervise, coach, and support a team of 2-3 technicians to ensure quality, efficiency, and accountability.
- Perform and oversee preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs on semi-trucks, tractors, trailers, and company vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, drive trains, brake systems, suspension systems, and other major mechanical components.
- Review repair orders completed by technicians to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
- Complete and verify job comments, parts usage, checklists, and repair documentation within the company work order system.
- Perform DOT inspections and ensure all equipment meets applicable safety, compliance, and regulatory standards.
- Proactively identify maintenance concerns and repair needs to reduce downtime and support safe, reliable fleet operations.
- Manage parts distribution, inventory organization, ordering needs, and proper recycling or disposal of used parts and materials.
- Complete minor body repairs as needed, including light structural and exterior repairs.
- Maintain accurate service, repair, inspection, and inventory records.
- Promote a clean, safe, organized, and productive shop environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support shop and fleet operations.
- 5+ years of shop management experience
- Able to multitask in a high-speed environment
- Exceedingly detail-oriented
- Possess a High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in the field or technical school
