Custodian

Position Summary:

The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment in all assigned areas. This position performs routine cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance duties in accordance with company standards and client requirements. The Janitor ensures that facilities are well-maintained and that cleanliness supports a positive image and safe working conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors in offices, hallways, restrooms, and other assigned areas.

Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, urinals, mirrors, and fixtures.

Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners.

Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.

Dust furniture, fixtures, and surfaces to maintain a clean appearance.

Restock supplies such as paper towels, toilet tissue, and soap.

Clean and maintain custodial equipment and storage areas.

Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs to the supervisor.

Follow proper procedures for handling and mixing cleaning chemicals safely.

Adhere to company policies regarding safety, attendance, and work quality.

Perform additional cleaning or special projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).Previous custodial, janitorial, or housekeeping experience (preferred but not required).Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to understand and follow written or verbal instructions.

Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.

Ability to lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds as needed.

Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.

Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.

Other Requirements:

Must comply with all company safety and uniform standards.

May be required to pass a background check and/or drug screening depending on client requirements.

Must be available for assigned shifts, including evenings, weekends, or holidays if required by the site.

Work Environment:

Work is performed indoors and outdoors depending on the facility.

Exposure to cleaning chemicals, odors, dust, and noise is possible.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
