Facilities Technician

The American National Red Cross seeks a Facilities Technician II to support safe, reliable operations at our Washington, DC facilities. In this role you'll perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and inspections on building systems, equipment, and grounds. You'll respond to work orders, support emergency readiness, partner with vendors, and help ensure a clean, functional environment for staff, volunteers, and donors. Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems, equipment, and grounds
• Respond to work orders and facility service requests in a timely manner
• Conduct routine inspections to ensure safety, code compliance, and operational readiness
• Support emergency preparedness for facilities, including backup systems and safety equipment
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and services
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections
• Operate safely using proper PPE and comply with OSHA and organizational safety standards
• Assist with space moves, event setups, and general facility support for staff and volunteers
• Monitor building systems and report issues related to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and life safety
• Support mission-critical operations such as blood drives and disaster response logistics by ensuring facility reliability
