Planner & Scheduler

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. The Planner & Scheduler supports facility maintenance operations by planning, coordinating, and scheduling work that ensures the reliable operation of plumbing and utility systems across a complex healthcare environment. The Planner & Scheduler serves as a key resource for maintenance teams, supervisors, contractors, and customers by developing detailed work plans, coordinating resources, and supporting efficient execution of maintenance and project activities.

UT MD Anderson relies on highly skilled maintenance professionals to support patient care, research, and administrative operations. The Planner & Scheduler is responsible for maximizing workforce efficiency and productivity through detailed planning, scheduling, material coordination, backlog management, and CMMS administration. The Planner & Scheduler plays a critical role in ensuring maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule while supporting long-term operational reliability.

The ideal candidate will possess significant experience as a plumber, stationary engineer, or related maintenance trade professional with strong knowledge of plumbing systems, utility systems, and maintenance operations. Preferred qualifications include experience with work planning, scheduling, labor estimating, material procurement, reading technical drawings and specifications, and strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills. Licensed Plumber.

Salary Range: $60,500 - $75,500 - $90,500

The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Responsibilities Scoping & Planning
• Administer work orders and service requests through CMMS software and prioritize work based on urgency and resource requirements.
• Contact and interview clients within two business days of work order origination to develop detailed scopes of work.
• Collaborate with craft technicians to estimate labor hours, manpower, parts, materials, equipment, and special tools required for work execution.
• Verify availability of parts and materials through vendors, warehouse resources, and WCC office support.
• Obtain quotes from vendors and contractors for maintenance and project work.
• Coordinate personnel, materials, and scheduling information to support facility maintenance and project work.
• Coordinate costs, work data, and project status among clients, contractors, technicians, supervisors, and Facility Services departments.
• Coordinate client moves and review CP&M submittals in collaboration with clients and FPDC.
• Establish short-range and long-range plans through analysis of available resources and maintenance backlog.

Work Planning & Resource Coordination
• Plan and schedule maintenance, repair, and project work supporting plumbing and utility systems.
• Develop detailed work plans and estimate labor hours required to complete assigned work.
• Order and coordinate materials, equipment, and resources needed to support scheduled activities.
• Support execution of maintenance activities through effective planning and resource allocation.
• Coordinate outsourced plumbing and utility system projects with contractors and vendors.
• Meet with contractors and vendors to scope, coordinate, and manage contracted work.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and contractor personnel to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Dispatch work assignments to Physical Plant Supervisors and coordinate work activities with internal departments, external entities, and vendors.
