Work Schedule: Assigned shift; overtime, weekends, holidays, and emergency call‑outs may be required
Position SummaryThe Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the buildings, grounds, utilities, and supporting equipment of the manufacturing facility. This position performs preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and general facility improvements to ensure the workplace remains safe, clean, functional, and operational.
This role primarily supports facility infrastructure and building systems. It may assist production-maintenance personnel when qualified and authorized, but it does not perform electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, or other regulated work beyond the employee’s training, certification, and authorization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair facility systems, structures, and equipment.
- Perform general building repairs involving doors, locks, walls, ceilings, flooring, windows, fencing, gates, docks, and other facility components.
- Complete basic plumbing repairs involving faucets, toilets, sinks, drains, hoses, and minor leaks.
- Perform basic electrical tasks, such as replacing approved light fixtures, lamps, switches, outlets, and batteries, when trained and authorized.
- Monitor facility lighting, ventilation, plumbing, electrical, compressed-air, fire‑protection, and HVAC systems.
- Report major electrical, plumbing, structural, fire‑protection, or HVAC problems requiring a licensed professional.
- Perform preventive maintenance according to established schedules and manufacturer recommendations.
- Inspect emergency lighting, exit signs, eyewash stations, safety showers, fire extinguishers, dock equipment, and other facility safety devices.
- Maintain offices, restrooms, breakrooms, production‑support areas, warehouses, parking lots, sidewalks, and exterior grounds.
- Perform painting, patching, pressure washing, minor carpentry, furniture assembly, and general facility improvements.
- Assist with spills, water intrusion, storm preparation, freeze protection, and other facility emergencies.
- Maintain drains, gutters, roof‑access areas, and exterior pathways where safely accessible.
- Support pest‑control, landscaping, waste‑management, and janitorial activities.
- Set up work areas, offices, furniture, shelving, barriers, signage, and equipment as requested.
- Respond promptly to facility‑maintenance requests and communicate repair status to affected departments.
- Assist qualified maintenance personnel with equipment repairs when directed and authorized.
- Coordinate access and provide site support to approved contractors and service vendors.
- Verify that contractors follow site safety, security, and work‑permit requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, work orders, repairs, preventive maintenance, parts, labor, and contractor services.
- Maintain an organized inventory of facility‑maintenance tools, parts, supplies, and materials.
- Safely operate approved lifts, ladders, forklifts, pallet jacks, hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Maintain clean, secure, and orderly maintenance shops, storage areas, and work locations.
- Communicate incomplete repairs, safety concerns, and facility conditions during shift handoffs.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, permits, and work instructions.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment for the assigned task.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures before servicing equipment or entering hazardous areas.
