Position OverviewThe Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of hotel facilities, guest rooms, public spaces, and mechanical systems. This position ensures the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the property through preventive maintenance programs, prompt response to guest requests, and adherence to safety standards.
The ideal candidate possesses strong troubleshooting abilities, extensive hotel maintenance knowledge, excellent guest service skills, and the flexibility to work a variety of shifts. Open availability is required, including mornings, evenings, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and hotel equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC, kitchen equipment, lighting, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance issues.
- Respond promptly to guest service requests and maintenance work orders.
- Maintain all hotel mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance and guest satisfaction.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment, facilities, and life-safety systems.
- Assist with repairs and maintenance of boilers, chillers, air handling units, pumps, water systems, and related equipment.
- Monitor building automation systems and identify operational concerns.
- Complete daily engineering logs, maintenance records, and work order documentation.
- Assist with room renovations, capital projects, and property improvement initiatives.
- Support emergency response procedures involving utility outages, fire alarms, severe weather, and other incidents.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, fire and life-safety requirements, and company safety policies.
- Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors when necessary.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Safeguard company equipment, tools, and assets.
- Participate in departmental meetings and required training programs.
- Provide professional and courteous service to guests and fellow associates.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Strong knowledge of hotel engineering operations and building systems.
- Ability to diagnose and solve maintenance and operational issues efficiently.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Minimum of two (2) years of hotel engineering or hotel maintenance experience required.
- Experience working in a luxury hotel, resort, or full-service hospitality environment preferred.
- HVAC certification or related trade certifications preferred.
- Knowledge of building automation systems and preventive maintenance programs.
- Experience with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general maintenance repairs.
- Pool maintenance certification is a plus.
- Bilingual communication skills are a plus.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, kneel, crouch, and bend for extended periods.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to operate maintenance equipment, power tools, and machinery safely.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to access rooftops, mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, and elevated work areas.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to complete maintenance and repair tasks.
