Plant Janitor​/Cleaner

Primary Responsibility:
The Industrial Plant Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in all areas of the industrial facility, including production floors, restrooms, break rooms, offices, and exterior grounds. This role ensures that cleaning standards comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, helping to support overall plant operations and employee well-being.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing of production/facility areas and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors; clean and disinfect surfaces.
• Empty trash and recycling bins regularly and ensure proper disposal procedures are followed.
• Operate industrial cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and pressure washers, carpet cleaners.
• Monitor cleaning supply inventory and report needs to supervisor.
• Follow proper procedures for handling and disposing of hazardous materials.
• Respond to cleaning and maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Support plant operations by maintaining cleanliness in compliance with OSHA and company standards.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Prior janitorial, housekeeping, or custodial experience in an industrial or commercial setting.
• Ability to work independently and follow verbal or written instructions.
• Familiarity with basic cleaning equipment and chemical handling procedures.
• Experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial plant environments.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
• Ability to operate forklifts

Required

• Must have a minimum one (6) months of experience in cleaning/janitorial in general
• Must have the ability to read, write, and speak Basic English
• Must have the ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative
• Must have the ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions

Physical Demands/Abilities:

• Ability to lift 60 pounds.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work at heights.

• Comfortable working in manufacturing environments with varying temperatures, noise, and exposure to industrial equipment.
• Ability perform repetitive tasks.

Working Conditions:

• Manufacturing production environment.
• Automated/manual production machinery.
• Periods of high ambient temperatures and excessive noise.
