Building Custodian

Starting Date: Immediately

Job Goal: To support ESC Region 6 by ensuring a clean and well-maintained facility while providing courteous and responsive support to staff, visitors, and event participants. The Building Custodian contributes to a positive work environment through teamwork, and a willingness to assist others as needed.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent

• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and staff
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
• Knowledge of proper use of cleaning supplies and equipment
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
• Willingness to support staff and assist coworkers as needed

Major

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Ensure restrooms are clean and kitchen are stocked with paper product, soaps and cleaners; empty and replace trash bags
• Vacuum and dust hallways, office, meeting rooms, and common areas
• Empty trash cans and replace liners throughout the facility
• Clean entry doors and glass surfaces
• Mop all hard-surface floors
• Clean tables in break rooms and common areas
• Remove trash from break rooms, loading dock, trash bins outside the building, and transport to dumpsters
• Assist with meeting room cleaning and workshop setup
• Assist with office and building trash removal
• Ensure the break rooms, offices, hallways, entryways, restrooms, and loading dock area remain clean at all times
• Provide courteous support to staff during events, workshops, and daily operations
• Maintain a cooperative, service-oriented attitude toward staff and visitors
• Perform other duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

• Work on multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
• Physical demands include bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting
• Occasional light lifting and carrying
• Requires self-discipline, dependability, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
