* Job Description:
** The City of Idaho Falls is accepting applications for the position of seasonal Custodian (40 hours per week/evenings and weekends) for the Parks Maintenance Division. This position performs a variety of semi-skilled duties as needed to maintain a safe, clean, operational and attractive environment.
** Shifts available will be:
Sundays through Wednesdays: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. OR 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. OR Wednesdays through Saturdays: 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. OR 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.*

* Essential Functions:
Perform continuous inspection, cleaning, and sanitizing of park facilities to meet public health and safety standards.
Performs park facility custodial duties which may include, but not limited to: vacuuming; sweeping; mopping; strip, wax and buff floors; removing scuff marks, heavy dirt, scratches, etc., in order to maintain clean and attractive facilities; arranges furniture for special meetings and functions; secures buildings by inspecting doors, windows and exits.
Empties and cleans waste receptacles; cleans and sanitizes restroom sinks, bowls and floors; washes windows; replaces burned out bulbs; cleans, maintains and stores equipment.
Monitors building temperature to insure comfortable conditions and advises supervisor when HVAC adjustments may be needed.
Monitors all facilities amenities for proper operation and reports any concerns to supervisor.
Responds to incidents/accidents and makes appropriate notifications and completes necessary reports and documentation.
Acting on behalf of Parks and Recreation, provides excellent customer service to public, and coworkers.
Under the direct supervision of a Park Manager or their designee, may perform general and light maintenance as assigned; may operate small, motorized equipment in performing various seasonal duties as needed to maintain walks, lawns or large floors, including snow removal equipment; may use a variety of different basic hand tools in performing requested duties.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
** 1.
Education and Experience **:
A. Educational background sufficient to demonstrate an ability or aptitude to perform the above duties.
** 2. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**: Some knowledge of practices, tools, equipment and materials used in custodial and minor mechanical maintenance work; some knowledge of safety practices of custodial work and use of cleaning agents and equipment. Critical thinking and problem solving skills are a must.
Ability to operate tools and equipment used in custodial work; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to perform work independently, without direct supervision; ability to perform heavy lifting and other duties requiring moderate physical strength; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, and the public.
** 3. Special Qualifications**:
Final candidate will be subject to a background check.
Must be at least 18 years of age upon hire. Must have a valid Drivers License. Must be willing and able to work weekends, evenings, and occasional holidays.
Work Environment:
Tasks require a variety of physical activities sometimes involving muscular strain. Physical demands may occur in activities related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, etc. Talking, hearing and seeing required in the daily performance of job duties. Occasional exposure to environmental hazards and must work with chemicals and other hazards related to their use.
** Pay Range:**$14.50 - $16.00
