Field Service Technician – Epiroc USA LLC

At Epiroc USA LLC, our Parts and Services (PSD) Division provides a broad range of services aimed at maximizing customers’ productivity. The Field Service Technician will provide thorough service support for technical problems, monitoring, testing, and demonstrations, minimizing downtime and reducing costs while promoting our product capabilities.

Location

This role will be based at customer sites in Silver Valley, Idaho.

Shift Timings

Working hours will be between 40–60 hours a week, with shifts and days varying to align with customer requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Level 1:
    • Review and update personal tool inventory quarterly to maintain compliance with calibration and replacement protocols.
    • Complete daily work assignments as requested from the customer or supervisor.
    • Use basic analytical skills to troubleshoot, identify problems, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems either by phone or on site.
    • Process warranty claim reports in the field and understand company warranty policies.
    • Adhere to company safety and environmental requirements, promoting and practicing proper safety procedures, correct PPE usage, and environmental stewardship.
    • Maintain courteous and professional demeanor and communication with customers and internal staff at all times.
  • Level 2:
    • Provide warranty support; evaluate and validate claims, discuss issues with Product Company, and submit service reports.
    • Communicate daily service reports and other relevant activities to the Customer and Service Manager via email and telephone.
    • Support varied activities, managing simultaneous projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Level 3:
    • Use specialized expertise and ingenuity to develop customized solutions to customer issues.
    • Rebuild complete components to OEM specifications in the service shop.
    • Perform essential functions on all equipment types across business line areas.
    • Serve as subject‑matter expert for other technicians, supporting training and development.
Requirements
  • Level 1:
    • Basic computer skills, familiarity with Epiroc equipment, strong mechanical aptitude, good work ethic, and ability to read basic hydraulic and 24‑volt schematics.
    • Own hand tools and ability to expand personal tool inventory as needed.
    • Complete TL1 and TL2 training and Safe Start Modules 1–5 within the first year.
    • Maintain required US Department of Labor Mine, Safety & Health Administration Training Certificates or complete required programs.
    • Hold a valid driver’s license; maintain a good driving record. If required to operate a commercial vehicle >26,001 pounds, obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) per DOT requirements. Drivers must be at least 18 for intrastate and 21 for interstate operation.
    • Travel required.
  • Level 2:
    • Minimum of a Certificate of Completion for a Technical or Trade School, or 2–5 years of relevant experience.
    • Complete TL1 and TL2 within 3–6 months of hire.
  • Level 3:
    • Minimum of a Certificate of Completion for a Technical or Trade School, or 5+ years of relevant experience.
    • Expert in Rig Control Systems (RCS).
    • Complete TL1 and TL2 within 1 month of hire.
    • Level determined by relevant work experience, knowledge, skills, and ability to perform essential functions.
Work Environment & Safety

Employees will be regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, occasional high or precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. Company‑provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required. This position is considered Safety Sensitive.
