Maintenance Planner

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing and implementing daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for maintenance activities in support of the maintenance and production goals for the Lucky Friday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Maintenance Planner:

  • Follows and promotes the Lucky Friday Maintenance Work Management Process.
  • Works with team members to build and maintain accurate Plans / Work Scopes.
  • Develops and implements accurate resource-levelled schedules for all maintenance activities.
  • Manages and updates detailed maintenance plans, along with short- and long-term schedules for maintenance activities.
  • Coordinates with maintenance teams and operations to ensure timely execution of maintenance activities.
  • Monitors and maintains the maintenance activity and reports both Leading and Lagging Maintenance KPI's and cost KPI's. Develops additional reports as required.
  • Manages minor capital projects related to maintaining site infrastructure.
  • Analyzes equipment performance data and maintenance history to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Ensures all maintenance work complies with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Develops and maintains currency of effective preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance procedures.
  • Works with warehouse personnel to maintain spare parts inventory.
  • Manages procurement to support maintenance activities.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate documentation related to maintenance plans, work orders, and equipment records.
  • Executes strategies for improving maintenance performance, including training, PM development, and the maintenance and development of computer-based maintenance management systems.
  • Assists the Maintenance Foreman with budgeting for the respective maintenance department.
  • Monitors maintenance costs and identifies and explains variances to the budget.
  • Works with the Reliability Engineer to identify chronic and impending equipment issues.
  • Initiates formal Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on chronic or high business risk failures.
  • Participates in Risk Assessment activities as required.
  • Checks accuracy and provision of all relevant data flows, including shift reports, requests for materials, timecards, etc.
  • Manages all aspects of the IFS Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • IFS Master Data and performs Master Data entry as needed.
  • Manages the suitability and relevance of the Maintenance Tactics (PM's).
  • Equipment asset tracking and documentation.
  • Maintains and monitors the accuracy and integrity of the Maintenance Work Order System.
  • Monitors the Maintenance team's use of IFS and works with the team to resolve issues as they arise.
General:
  • Attends meetings as required, including training and department meetings.
  • Supervises contract and/or temporary hire employees as required.
  • Follows and understands MSHA rules and regulations, environmental rules and regulations, SOP and work area instructions, participates in safety and environmental activities. Leads by example by adhering to rules and regulations and ensuring compliance to rules and regulations established by the Lucky Friday.
  • Must be able to work and communicate with other members of the work team.
  • Must be willing to comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Complies with applicable environmental laws and regulations. Conducts activities and work in an environmentally responsible manner. Is aware of procedures to minimize impacts to the environment.
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Planning or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a maintenance planning role.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, utilities, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience in an underground mining environment preferred.
  • Prior experience setting up, using, and maintaining computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) required. Experience with IFS preferred.
  • Proven experience in maintenance planning or scheduling, specifically with electrical systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical equipment, systems, and maintenance best practices.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements related to electrical maintenance.
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies and data analysis tools.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
