Pool Mechanic
The Pool Mechanic is responsible for performing routine and complex maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of swimming pools, spas, water features, and associated mechanical systems to support the daily operations of the resort. This role plays a vital part in ensuring all aquatic facilities remain safe, clean, functional, and welcoming for employees and guests. No experience necessary, training will be provided for the right candidate.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on swimming pools, spas, fountains, and water features
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair pool pumps, motors, filters, heaters, chemical feed systems, controllers, and circulation equipment
- Monitor and maintain proper water chemistry, including testing and adjusting chemical levels to ensure compliance with health and safety standards
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests and perform necessary repairs to pool and aquatic systems
- Diagnose and repair plumbing issues related to pool circulation, filtration, and water distribution systems
- Inspect and repair pool surfaces, tile, coping, decking, drains, skimmers, and related aquatic facility components
- Clean, backwash, and maintain filtration systems to ensure optimal water quality and equipment performance
- Assist with seasonal pool openings and closures, as well as renovation and refurbishment projects
- Maintain accurate records of water chemistry readings, maintenance activities, repairs performed, and materials used
- Follow all safety protocols, chemical handling procedures, and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing aquatic facilities
- Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Manager
Qualifications:
- No pool experience necessary, willingness to learn
- Working knowledge of pool filtration systems, pumps, motors, heaters, automation systems, and water chemistry
- Ability to independently diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues related to aquatic facilities
- Knowledge of safe chemical handling practices and applicable pool health and safety regulations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a safe environment for guests and employees
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple maintenance priorities
- Engage in physical activities including standing for long periods, walking, bending, climbing, and utilizing hands for tasks involving gripping, handling, and reaching
- Can safely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around pool chemicals and aquatic equipment
