Pay

Starting at $32.02 – $39.25 per hour DOE. $1.50 per hour shift differential for Swing, Graveyard & Weekend shifts.

Position Type

Full-time Weekend Shift: Friday – Monday. Overtime may be required as projects or job duties demand.

The Role

The main responsibilities of a millwright are to keep the mill running, fix any breakdowns, and maintain machinery to prevent breakdowns. Millwrights may also work on larger projects such as repairing and maintaining cylinders, belts, conveyors, chains, motors, and valves and fabricating new equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Practice safe behavior at all times
  • Fix and maintain machinery
  • Complete welding where necessary
  • Provide carpentry work as needed
  • Perform preventive maintenance on machines
  • Maintain good housekeeping
  • Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Dismantle machines
  • Move machinery and equipment
  • Assemble and install equipment such as shafting and conveyors
  • Construct foundations for machines
  • Align machines and equipment
  • Assemble machines, bolt, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten them to the foundation or other structures
  • Repair and lubricate machines and equipment
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 18
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in related positions via a combination of education and work
  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and work order systems
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot mechanical issues through data analytics, intuition, and experience
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, manuals, and blueprints
  • Basic mathematical proficiency
Safety and Physical Demands

This position is classified as "safety-sensitive," meaning an accident could result in loss of life or serious injury. Employees will be subject to comprehensive pre-employment drug screening.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be:

  • Independently mobile, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping for extended periods
  • Frequent use of basic hand tools
  • Required to stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop for extended lengths of time
  • Use hands and fingers to handle, feel, and work with tools or materials
  • Employ close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
