A well‑established manufacturing organization in the northwest suburbs is seeking a General Accountant to join their collaborative accounting team.
This General Accountant role offers a well-rounded blend of payroll, general ledger, cost accounting, and expense reporting responsibilities within a stable, structured environment. The position reports directly to experienced leadership and provides strong cross-functional exposure.

• Process weekly multi-state payroll for 150+ hourly and salaried employees
• Review electronic timekeeping data and validate hours worked
• Handle adjustments, garnishments, deductions, bonuses, and special payouts
• Maintain payroll accruals and prepare related journal entries
• Research and resolve payroll tax inquiries and discrepancies
• Maintain payroll records, documentation, and reporting
• Post daily bank transactions into SAP
• Maintain and update cash management schedules
• Perform monthly account reconciliations
• Post payroll entries to the general ledger
• Provide backup coverage for Accounts Payable
• Audit and approve employee expense reports
• Maintain the expense reporting system
• Post corporate credit card activity to the GL
• Ensure accuracy, compliance, and appropriate support
• Perform daily product cost roll-ups
• Maintain and analyze KPI calculations
• Support the Plant Controller with cost analysis and reporting
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2+ years of accounting experience
• Payroll processing experience (multi-state preferred)
• Strong understanding of wage & hour laws and payroll tax regulations
• Experience with GL postings and reconciliations
• Exposure to cost accounting—manufacturing experience a plus
• SAP experience preferred
• ADP Workforce Now preferred
• Stable work history
• Detail-oriented, smart, and eager to learn
