POSITION SUMMARY:
  • The Accounting Supervisor reports to the Divisional VP, Finance & Accounting.
  • Located in Bedford Park, IL.
  • Full‑Time.
  • Hybrid.

We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Accounting Supervisor to join our finance team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accounting Supervisor will play a key role in overseeing day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions, and contributing to the month‑end close process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team Supervision:

  • Supervise and lead a team of accounting professionals.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to team members to ensure efficient and accurate daily operations.

Financial Transactions:

  • Oversee the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Review and approve journal entries for accuracy and compliance.

Month‑End Close:

  • Assist in the month‑end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Generate and analyze financial reports to support decision‑making.
  • Prepare and present financial information to management as needed.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Collaborate with the team to implement best practices in accounting processes.

Audit Support:

  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support external auditors during audits.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to address accounting‑related inquiries.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and management.

Ad Hoc Projects:

  • Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
  • Provide support in various financial analyses and projects.
COMPETENCIES:
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Analytical mindset with problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Deadline‑oriented with effective time‑management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
QUALIFICATIONS &

EXPERIENCE:
  • 5‑6 years of relevant experience in accounting, or equivalent Military or practical experience.
  • CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software.
  • Team management and leadership experience.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check post‑offer acceptance.
