Writers Theatre is hiring an Assistant Directors for the following production in our 26/27 season:

The Royale

• Contract dates: 9/22-10/30/26
  • 1st Rehearsal: 9/22/26
  • Rehearsal schedule:
    • Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10:30-6:30pm
    • Tech begins 10/15, rehearsing between 12pm-10pm
    • Previews begin 10/22, rehearse 12pm-5pm, previews in the evening
  • Opening: 10/30/26

LOCATION:

Glencoe, IL (Local Hire, Chicago)
COMPENSATION: $2000 fee

Successful applicants will be early in their career, and have some previous experience with directing or assistant directing. The Assistant Director position will work closely with the directors throughout the rehearsal and tech process. Tasks include taking script and line notes, coordinating with the director and stage management, and any other tasks as set out by the director or producer. This is a great opportunity for emerging artists to work with a nationally recognized creative team in a CAT Tier 5 theatre.
