The Division of Mental Health is hiring a Physician Specialist Option B for the Madden Mental Health Center in Chicago, Illinois, to serve as a primary care physician for an inpatient pavilion. The physician will clinically direct a caseload, verify that treatment meets standards of care, and evaluate assigned cases at Intake.

• Serve as primary care physician for patients in the assigned pavilion.
• Provide clinical direction to staff involved in direct care.
• Provide backup coverage of other pavilion staff and conduct assessments at Intake.
• Participate as a member of medical committees, pavilion and program meetings, case evaluation, audit and utilization review committees.
• Attend and participate in all mandatory training; travel as necessary for job duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required within the scope of duties enumerated above.

• One year of professional experience evaluating and providing quality medical care to adult patients.
• One year of professional experience evaluating, diagnosing and treating adult patients in accordance with best practices.
• One year of professional experience coordinating medical services with other disciplines and supportive personnel.
• One year of professional experience conducting physical examinations of patients.
• One year of professional experience communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• One year of professional experience preparing comprehensive and specialized medical records and reports.

• Possession of a valid Illinois Controlled Substance License.
• Possession of a valid United States Drug Enforcement Administration Certificate of Registration.
• Ability to meet the requirements of and be appointed to the medical staff association of the Madden Mental Health Center within 30 days of employment.
• Ability to travel in the performance of job duties.
• Ability to walk and stand for a significant period of time, including stooping, bending, lifting or exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.
• Ability to participate in patient management interventions that may include restraint interventions.
• Ability to maintain current Basic Life Support Certification.
