Junior High Special Education Long-Term Leave

Willow Springs School District 108 is seeking a dedicated and student-centered long-term substitute junior high special education teacher to provide instructional and case management services during a teacher leave of absence. The successful candidate will create an inclusive learning environment, collaborate with colleagues and families, implement individualized education programs (IEPs), and support students in achieving academic, social, and behavioral success.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois professional educator license (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement (or eligibility for appropriate Illinois licensure).
  • Knowledge of special education laws, IEP development and implementation, and evidence-based instructional practices.
  • Experience working with middle school students is preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students receiving special education services in grades 5-8.
  • Implement and monitor students' IEPs, including accommodations, modifications, and progress toward annual goals.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that meet diverse student needs and align with district curriculum.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student success.
  • Collect and maintain accurate documentation of student progress and special education services.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and other required professional meetings.
  • Utilize data to inform instructional decisions and interventions.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and structured classroom environment.
  • Follow district policies, procedures, and timelines related to special education compliance.
