Do you have a passion for connecting people and communities with innovative entertainment and learning experiences? The Glencoe Public Library is looking for a creative, outgoing, and organized person to plan, coordinate, and facilitate a wide range of classes and events for adults 18+. This person will also help coordinate outreach opportunities and partnerships with a variety of local agencies. This newly created position is part of our Adult Services Department Team and will have opportunities to staff the Reference and Reader’s Advisory desks.
The ideal candidate will be interested in reading and book culture, with a passion for supporting lifelong learning.
The Glencoe Community recently approved a $17.5 million bond advisory to renovate and update our historic building, including a greatly expanded programming space, with groundbreaking expected in mid-2027.
Qualifications- BA/BS degree in a relevant field
- Previous experience with event planning or community engagement desirable
- Demonstrates knowledge and appreciation of books and materials for adults, with wide range of reading experience
- Competent and comfortable working with technology related to library resources including but not limited to mobile devices, tablets, and computers
- Listening and communication skills
- Ability to stay organized and use time effectively with minimal supervision
- Ability to exercise judgment when dealing with the public and staff
- Valid driver’s license or access to transportation
Full-time staff receive 23 paid vacation days, 12 paid sick days, and two paid personal days each year; seven paid holidays; paid membership to ALA and PLA; continuing education and conference attendance opportunities; a 100% employer-paid individual health plan with vision and dental insurance; and enrollment in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF).
