DescriptionThe Medical Transporter is responsible for safely transporting and accompanying individuals to medical appointments and procedures while ensuring their safety, dignity, and well-being. This position works closely with nursing and program staff to coordinate medical appointments, communicate concerns, obtain vital signs and monthly weights, maintain medical documentation, and ensure appointment paperwork is completed and returned appropriately.
Additional responsibilities include delivering medications and supplies to CILA locations, assisting nursing staff with CILA visits and other assigned duties, maintaining organized medication areas, updating documentation in Therap and company systems, and providing direct support to individuals as needed
Position Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be a certified DSP and certified in CPR/First Aid and Medication Administration, or enroll in company-provided courses, achieve passing scores, and obtain the required certifications.
- Must be at least 23 years of age to become PACE certified.
- Valid Illinois driver's license and ability to meet company vehicle insurance requirements.
- Medication Administration certification or ability to obtain certification within 3 months of hire.
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and meet the physical demands of the position.
- Must successfully complete required criminal background check and drug screening.
- Must be able to become authorized to administer medications at CILA sites within the assigned region.
- Must maintain confidentiality and comply with company policies and procedures.
