A nationally recognized nonprofit organization is seeking a Contract Recruiter based in the Chicago, IL area to support its growing Workforce Management team. This organization connects government and corporate customers to a broad network of nearly 700 nonprofit agencies that employ individuals with disabilities. Established in 1974, the organization is committed to increasing economic and social inclusion and advocating for a more accessible future of work.
This is a mission-driven environment where the work you do each day directly impacts employment outcomes for people with disabilities across the country. The team is collaborative, purpose-led, and actively building out its talent acquisition services.
Hybrid Schedule! The contract recruiter will play a central role in connecting job seekers with disabilities to employment opportunities across the organization's nonprofit partner network. This is a unique, relationship-driven role that blends talent acquisition with community outreach and human services coordination. The position sits within the Workforce Management function and reports to a Senior Workforce Management Partner.

Monday–Friday - Contract:
Open-ended with strong likelihood of extension
- Build and maintain referral relationships with nonprofit partners and community organizations to connect job seekers with disabilities to open roles
- Share job opportunities across the National Nonprofit Association network and encourage partner participation in candidate referral efforts
- Screen and interview candidates to assess qualifications, job fit, and support needs
- Support candidates through applications, interview preparation, and job search navigation, proactively removing barriers to employment
- Match qualified candidates to relevant opportunities, including Ability One roles, with hands‑on support through background checks and documentation
- Promote and support use of the organization's job board and related employment resources
- Partner with internal stakeholders to understand hiring priorities, referral trends, and workforce needs
- Track recruiting activity, referrals, and outcomes to support reporting and continuous improvement
- Represent the organization's mission in a professional, collaborative, and service-oriented manner
- Experience in nonprofit human services, especially working directly with individuals with disabilities
- Past roles such as Direct Service Provider (DSP), Job Coach, Vocational Counselor, or Employment Specialist
- Strong understanding of intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism and Down syndrome
- Familiarity with supported employment, benefits navigation, and common employment barriers (e.g., transportation)
- Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- 2 - 5 years of experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, workforce development, or related field
- Experience supporting full‑cycle recruitment and candidate case management
- Strong relationship-building, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
Excel experience preferred - Bilingual communication skills are a plus
