HR Specialist

The City of Countryside is seeking a Human Resources Specialist in the Administration Department. Under the direction of the City Administrator, this individual performs a variety of confidential, administrative and technical work associated with employee and retiree benefits, claim administration for property, liability and workers’ compensation claims and administers other employment programs and activities.

• Provide staff support for all benefit programs
• Maintain personnel records
• Initiate pay increases
• Administer FMLA leaves
• Prepare and explain new‑hire paperwork
• Coordinate pre‑employment screenings and background checks
• Serve as the staff liaison to the Board of Fire and Police Commission
• Assist the City Administrator with other administrative duties as assigned

• Highly motivated self‑starter with the ability to prioritize, organize, and manage tasks independently
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Math proficiency
• Ability to research, compile, and analyze data
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher)

Bachelor’s degree preferred; 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources.

$62,673 - $86,801 (starting salary $79,907 max) commensurate with qualifications and experience plus excellent benefits.
