Available Facility Attendant Shifts Open Shift is Saturday mornings 6:30 - 1:30pm. Additional opportunities available. Scheduled hours can range from 3.75 to 15 hours a week.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The position of Facility Attendant is a part-time, non-exempt position. Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Parks & Facilities, the Facility Attendant provides a level of security and staff presence throughout the Park District; support for District programming and rentals, including set-ups and take-downs; and maintenance and upkeep of buildings, special use facilities, park grounds, turf and ball fields.
SUPERVISION:
The Facility Attendant has no employee supervisory responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Open and/or lock park facilities and gates; as directed
Review Daily Schedule Sheets and plan job task completion to optimize time and resources
Responsible for program and facility rental set-ups and take-downs
Greet and communicate with renters and park users; provide information and answer questions
Monitor park sites and mediate park usage conflicts; provide assistance and support to park patrons
Perform facility maintenance including but not limited to cleaning and restocking restrooms; disposing of trash and emptying garbage cans; wiping down tables and chairs; sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors; cleaning picnic shelters, grills and fire pits Perform park maintenance including but not limited to fence repair, sign installation, graffiti removal, litter pick-up and garbage removal; as needed
Perform horticulture maintenance including but not limited to weeding, raking, mulching, planting, pruning, watering and flower bed maintenance; as needed
Execute athletic field maintenance including but not limited to dragging infields; setting bases; lining ball fields; securing and relocating various goals; setting and removing flags, cones and markers; as needed
Patrol premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and to ensure security of doors, windows and gates
Monitor and report on daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment, vehicle or property damage; theft; presence of unauthorized persons or unusual occurrences
Assist in the investigation of activated alarms
Ability to successfully and safely operate equipment required to complete assigned tasks including but not limited to golf carts, snow blowers and power washers
Ability to safely and within legal guidelines, operate vehicles to and from daily assigned work sites
Assist in snow and ice removal
Ability to work from oral and written directives
Thoroughly, accurately and punctually maintain and complete all required records and reports including but not limited to work orders, safety inspection checklists and daily activity logs Adhere to and enforce all Park District safety, personnel and administrative policies, procedures and ordinances
Demonstrate and support Park District customer service standards
Availability to cover other Facility Attendant shifts; as needed
Work nights and weekends; as necessary
Assist other Park District departments; as needed
Perform other duties; as assigned SAFETY AND
RISK MANAGEMENT:
Uphold safety and risk management strategies in support of and compliance with Park District policies, procedures, ordinances and practices
Familiarity with and effective implementation of the Employee Safety Manual and Crisis Management Plan Attend professional educational and safety trainings
Assist with emergency procedures and building evaluation
Utilize Personal Protective Equipment when performing duties, based on job tasks
Correct unsafe conditions and/or report them to supervisor
Promptly report hazardous conditions, accidents and injuries to supervisor
Complete incident/accident report forms and promptly forwards them to supervisorEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School graduate or equivalent
Must be 21 years of age or older
Valid Illinois Driver’s License Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification, preferred
Illinois BASSET Responsible Beverage Server Training Certification, preferred
Current First Aid, CPR and AED Certification
