OverviewThe Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned.
Roles & Responsibilities- Perform janitorial duties
- Execute all duties listed on the daily schedule
- Handle hazardous waste responsibilities, including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping, receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of special and hazardous waste
- Operate motorized cleaning equipment
- Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
- Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
- Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
- Identify risky behavior of others and of self
- Perform work assignments in a team with other employees
- Execute repetitive tasks
- Keep work area clean
- Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
- Take direction and respond to supervision
- Communicate with lead, supervisor, co‑workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner
- Fill in during staff shortages
- Support shift lead in completing punch‑list items
- Use proper personal protective equipment
- Present a professional appearance and conduct
- Understand customer service and satisfaction
- Understand reporting systems and the environment
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The required knowledge, skills, and abilities are listed below:
- Education and/or
Experience:
No specific education requirement; 3–6 months training or experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
May be required to have a valid driver’s license. Completed safety and task training certification. May be required to be forklift certified. - Skills:
Bilingual a plus;
Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents;
Strong verbal and written communication skills;
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment and willingness to share with team;
Knowledge of upkeep and care of cleaning equipment;
Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use. - Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
